How much does posting a tattoo on the web take away from how good it really is? Do most look better in person?
I ask this because I recently got a color portrait of my kids by Joe Capobianco at Hope and he posted it. While the web picture looks good it does not do the tattoo justice. If you read the blurb he put with it you can tell it wasn't the most fun he has ever had but like a true professional he put his all into it and it kicks ass. I can't wait to turn it into a sleeve.

With most of the photos on this site the tattoos are far more brilliant in person than a web photo, or even a real photo, can get across. Quality tattoos by artists like Joe are jaw-dropping in person, alas the photos and web photos pale in comparison. But hey, whatcha gonna do? Some people will manuplite their photos to make them look better, but for the most part artists do their best to make the photos look as much like reality as possible.
Congrats on the awesome tattoo! I bet it kicks ass in person!
Thanks. I have to admit I am a little skeptical of the portfolios that look too good.
