I have a couple of questions about tattoo locations. I have had my tattoo for about three years now and it is a tattoo of tinkerbell on the right side of my lower back off to the right side of my spine. Although my mom HATES tattoos and cried her eyes out when I got mine, she thinks I need to get another one to balance out what I already have. She says it looks wierd the way I have it. Is this that unusual to have a tattoo off to the side on my lower back? It is about halfway between my spine and my side and stands about three inches high by probably about two inches wide. My mom must think it looks really odd if she is encouraging me to get another tattoo now!! I am afraid if I got something else in the same spot on the other side that it would just be too much of my back covered with tattoo. Plus, I cannot decide what would go well with my tinkerbell tattoo if it were on the other side to balance it out. Any suggestions?
My other question is about what affect pregnancy or weight gain would have (as far as stretch marks go) on a small tattoo below the hip bone and to the inside about an inch or so. Is this low enough that it wouldn't get affected much by these normal aspects of a woman's life? I would really like to get a butterfly tattoo and somehow incorporate an "A" for my first initial. But, I cannot think of any place else that I could get it that would be hidden whenever I wanted it to be. I would love to have it on my lower back in the center of my spine, but I have heard that you cannot get meds when you are giving birth if you have a tatt there, and I think it would maybe look wierd with me having the tattoo I already have just hanging out there off to the side of my spine.
Let me know what you think....

i just got my first tattoo (an outlined sun) on my lower back on the left side and i think it looks great!!! not weird or off balance at all. i think it's a lot more unique and interesting than in the center where i often see them. if anything, i think two unmatching tattoo's on either side would look weird. if they were the same design (stars for example) it would work, but different designs would just look odd. i say keep it the way it is!!
If you want a tattoo in a hidden spot, I'd get one on the side of your hips. Gaining weight/ having kids shouldn't affect it, and if you get it in a certain area, the chances of it being visible are pretty low. I've had three small tattoos on my inner and outer hips for over a year, and no one in my family still knows about them.
I don't feel that getting another tattoo on the other side of your back would "even it out". I would only suggest getting one if you are 100% sure you want one. Just remember, you can get a tattoo for next to nothing but removal isn't quite as cheap. However, if you do decide that is what you want, I would suggest looking at some other Disney-cartoon characters that go along with Tink (i.e. Peter Pan). As far as the meds during child birth goes, I just had a beautiful baby girl (emergency C-section) 5 monthes ago and I have a 4x3 inch tribal tattoo on the small of my back (right where they did the epi) and it didn't cause any problems. The only situation that we ran into at all concerning tattoos or piercings was when they were trying to get all of my piercings out to go to the OR. THAT WAS FUN!! But if that is where you want one go for it, it won't prevent you from getting the medications you desire in the future. Hope this helps you!
Hey, I have a tattoo on my lower back that covers the entire lower back and I had a son and had an epidoral with no problems what so ever. I also have a tattoo on my hip and around my belly button. I did get stretch marks all over my stomach and at first you could see them in my tattoos, like when my stomach was loose after I had him, but now, you can't tell. Actually my stretch marks look the best where my tattoos are. And I would agree with the person who said to get something related to Tinkerbell on the other side you decided to, such as Peter Pan, that would look real cute. So I hope this gives you some more information to go off of. Good luck.
Thanks for your post AGOULD...hope to see more of ya on this forum....ya might consider that this is a VERY old post though!
But good sharing anyhoo!...TAz
I had my son 2 years ago...and I have stretch marks there, yet some people dont get them...so that is a risk you would just have to take if u want it there. I think that having your tinkerbell tattoo is fine...no big deal as far as it looking odd...my friend has one there too and it looks fine. depending on what the tinkerbell looks like...i think you could incorporate it somehow with ur tink....
