Solid lines ??

Well i am semi-hesitant to ask this here. From searching the forums, this doesnt exactly look like the place to ask for help. But i thought i would go ahead and ask to see what others said about their own tuning settings. I am a new artist. I did order a kit from superior tattoo company. I am intrested in getting into the "professional" way to tattoo. I had done alot of homemade ones when i was young, but they came out like crap and now i wanna do it right to make sure the pictures come out smooth. I do have proper sterilization, my kit works, and runs smoothly,and i have tons of practice skin i use. One question i have to ask is, is there a trick to getting good solid lines in 1 stroke ?? I know its in the tuning, but I have not been able to properly tune my armature bar to compliment my voltage. Before i get ragged on, its not like im running it on 3 volts with the armature all the way loose. It just usually takes 4 to 5 strokes to get a line solid, and when im practicing large scale pictures it takes forever to smooth all the lines out. I was just hoping maybe someone knew of a small little trick to help get the armature bar in the correct possition. Like the "nickel and dime" method for setting your needle distance. One may not exsist, but i thought i would ask. Any help would be appreciated. And if you wanna flame me, im glad i could entertain you for 3 minutes =Z -GOTHBear

get expert training, honestly if you need 4 or 5 passes just for a single line, you're damaging the skin and you will get scarring! you're not only permanently damaging somebody's skin, you're damaging the name of tattooing, this person might never want to get tattooed again! you cannot learn just with hints and tips, learn to do it the right way. convince someone to teach you, do whatever it takes to get an apprenticeship, prove to the artist that you respect the artform. its never easy, but thats really your best bet!

Throw that superior crap (yes its CRAP!) away or sell it to another idiot then if you insist on learning on your own buy some decent machines and power supply, that is if you have an autoclave,THEN take art clases for a couple years all the while reading every single publication you can find on tattooing and machine tuning...tattoo thousands of fake skin, fruit and pigskin...wet leather works well too.
