SHORT COILS... PROS & CONS

I'm getting read to set up a new machine (bulldog frame) and I want to use short coils (1") I've never used a machine with short coils so I really don't know what to expect. I've read that you can get higher speeds with lower voltage good for lining. but I've also seen some machines set up as shaders. my question to everyone is... what are the pros and cons of use a machine with a short coils?
I've used National Eagles with shorty coils for years both shader and liner...and Hotspark built me a shorty liner ( my favorite liner ever...use it every day and have to fight my guys for it!) They seem to be a bit louder but otherwise run the same as conventional coils.
same as using a machine with 1.25 coils. The difference is in which hand the machine falls on. I recently built a horseshoe 8 wrap with 5/16 "Square" cores all handmade. And is the best liner I ever ran. Too bad Taz bought it...It's gone...
