Separating the men from the boys

I'm know this isn't a mind blowing observation but it seems that the abiilty to tattoo a face is a skill that truly puts artists in a higher class. I see so many tattoos of fairies, pinups, whatever with great backgrounds, color, shading, body, but then you look at the face and the disappointment hits. Who would you rank as the best at tattooing faces? Not necessarily portraits.

dont forget the ladies!!!! theres alot of great tattoo artists with a variety of styles. portraits/ faces are more difficult to do and do well. myself personally, i love doing portraits/faces, and dont much like doing traditional tattoos. its just not my thing. of course when it comes to faces and such, not a day goes by that some chick comes into the shop and wants a fairy tattooed the size of a postcard. i have to explain that if she wants her to have a face, she needs to be done bigger. most people dont realize that in order to retain detail , it has to be a larger size... and there are way too many kick ass artists out there to rank only one as the best!

Good point goddess alot of people hate to even contemplate the idea of changing the size the of their tattoos to fit the needs of their desired outcome.
