Seahorse

I have a kickass portrait of my kids on my arm I was thinking of getting a seahorse on the inside--just wondering if this is played out image. I have never seen one in person but I would hate to have it and find out it turns out to be just as popular as a butterfly or fairy.

I seem to recall that the seahorse was a popular tattoo among the Lesbian Sisterhood (something to do with it's sexual ambiguity, I'm guessing). Don't know if it still is, or if you should even consider that, but it's probably worth knowing. I recall a bunch of guys here got the Biohazard symbol inked on them and then discovered that, in some Gay subcultures, it denotes someone with AIDS...

no seahorses arent as played out as flowers or butterflies. they dont mean your gay either... and my rubber duckie tattoos dont mean Im gay either... and neither does my pink flamingo.

Just kidding I'm going back and forth between a seahorse (the whole protective father thing) or a badass dragon face maybe a little neck but no body so the face can be really detailed (another protection thing) 2 different sides of the same idea

Hey, get whatever you want, it's other peoples' problems if they think it denotes something...but a little info never hurt. I'll see if I can track down the origin of the seahorse/sappho connection (if only for my own satisfaction)... it may be that it was peculiarly Australian...

A cursory google seems to indicate that the seahorse is a recurring theme in Gay & Lesbian culture and, while there were a number of references to members' seahorse tattoos, there was no indication that this denote one's sexual preference. Hope that clears that up. As for your Rubber Duckie Gabe, whoever thought that indicated "gayness" has problems of their own (laffs).

Who cares anyway.....Seahorses are a magnificent creature and would make for a pretty cool tattoo.....look at as many pictures as possable and get one.

Who cares? Well, I imagine that there exists some that do. That aside, I concur with your sentiment that seahorses are exquisite creatures and a tattoo of one is a fine thing to possess.
