I met a local shop owner that's say the shop does $240K in business each year... He had four Artists... each says they make about $18k-$35K on a 50/50 split of the gross... How ever the owner only claims to make $40K net. $40K out of the $120k gross.... %67 overhead to the owner? Is this really how high the overhead is or was he probably full of it... or maybe not very good at business...
Just wondering... No need to give away how well your shop does unless you want to... Just a seems about right or yeah he was full of it.. is good enough.
Question for the business side of things..

Way too many variables to even comment...are materials supplied?..how nice is shop ?...etc etc
Artist's pay for their own materials, autoclave was provided... Look like a nice location (from a business perspective). Accross the street from a mall and next a to a recruiting station. Most just flash shop.
With your figures he grossed 12 grand after artist cut...if he only had 40 grand left that means he spent 80 grand on the shop overhead which is astronomical...especially if he owns the location.
Sounds fishy to me!!
That's what I figured... I was just trying to make sure... (no, they don't own it but I doubt they payed much for rent)
