I'm giving my son jude up for adoption and wanted to get a tattoo meaning sacrifice, maturity and lifes journey in general. I have a tattoo on my lower back it is hebrew for female warrior and a want it to be right above this. So I was thinking maybe a cross or a lotus flower? But those arn't unique...ideas would be very appreciated thank you.

i think this is something that you might want to sit down with your artist and discuss. not only the themes, but the general mood about the situation and what you want the piece to convey.
i don't think you want to go with a generic piece of art here, at least i would hope you wouldn't.
Meli,
I am going to have to agree with Bee. This sounds as if it is a touchy subject. But if you are going to get what you want out of this tattoo you are going to have to spend some time with an artist who you are going to feel comfortable going into great detail. You will know if they give a damn or not just by talking to them. I think that once you have that then the possibilities will be wide open to you. Best of luck, thank you for the post, and happy tattooing....J
Just as a brief idea, the christian cross is seen as a symbol of love and sacrifice and tattoos of the moon are seen as representing the varied rhythms of life
This is going to really piss some people off, so, sorry in advance. Iet me also be clear that this is in NO WAY A JUDGEMENT, because I have no idea what you are going through. I'm also not saying that you haven't thought about this..
I don't know you. You could be an angel. You could be a crack addict. I don't know. But I know one thing for sure... the fact that you've named your son, you know him, and you are thinking about memorializing him with a tattoo tells me that you must really love him... Are you sure you want to do this?? Are you sure you have to do this? Have you exhaused all options? Because the reunion you will possibly have in 18 years will in no way compare to him being able to look up to you and know who his mom is. I'm only asking because I am not rich, I am not pretentious, I am not a judgemental person, but I am a Dad. I would fight, kill or die before I would let my daughters go for any reason, ever, ever, ever. They'd have to pry my cold dead hands from their bodies. Does this make me better than you? No way. No way. I'm just saying, I hope you've thought this through completely.
Again, this is not a judgement. I care about you. I'm asking because I do care. If I didn't, I wouldn't even ask. So, at the risk of offending you, I just wanted to say that because this is the kind of post that actually matters, please just considerwhat I said. If you have to give him up, Okay. But no tattoo will ever take the place of your kid.
I'm not being mean. I actually do care. I'm just a dad, man. Anyway, hopefully it will work out. My prayers are with ya.
I think Al is making a lot of sense here...We are not judging you but just putting this informayion on here you must have expescted to get some feedback....I don't know your situation but I hope it turns out ok...I DO know that getting a tattoo when you are giving up your son just does not sit right somehow...I am a dad and a grandfather and I can only say what Al said...only by prying my cold dead fingers form them will anyone ever take my blood away!...T
When I first saw this post I thought to myself 'I better leave this one alone or I'll get more shit' but after reading Al's & Taz's posts, fuck it, here goes. I don't pretend to know what your situation is but as as a single Dad who has raised/taken care of my kid's with next to no help from anyone for damn near 6 years, I think you got your priorities ass backwards. You're gonna dump the child and 'get an extremely meaningful tattoo' instead?
What the fuck kinda shit is that? You stated you want something to symbolize 'sacrifice', and 'maturity', how 'bout sacrificing for your son and being mature enough not to dump him on someone else. Yeah, get some-thing real fucking fancy but just be prepared to explain what it means and why you bailed out on your own flesh and blood to anyone who ask what it represents, including the women who'd give anything to be able to have a child, but can't and those who would die before giving them up. I'm getting too pissed to continue but Meli, be very glad you posted this on this forum and did not come into my studio telling me the same thing, be VERY glad....Do
i don't know the situation either, that's why i kinda kept quiet. but you never know the motivating factor.
i know, that me personally, i come from a very strict middle eastern family -- that when they found out there was pressure not only to get an abortion, but when i refused that, they started pressuring me to give my baby up for adoption (my dad & uncles are still pushing for that). they were concerned that my life would be over etc. if i was less opinionated (like my female cousins... the idiots) i would have given in. lucky for Samira i'm a stubborn lil bitch. ;)
i do know one girl, who was to be a single mother, who had no family support, and had been diagnosed with a debilitating (sp?) disease who chose to give the child up for adoption at an early age. She was afraid something would happen to her, and that her son would end up in foster care, therefore she wanted to make sure he had a loving home and set up an 'open adoption'. (actually, if it wasn't for getting pregnant, she would never have learned that she was sick). Her son knows that she's his "birth mom" and she sees him regularly, the family includes her in major functions and she's been kept in the loop w/every milestone. Doesn't hurt that they live near each other either.
however. i feel that it's the minority of girls who go that route for any good reason. i know of too many who just didn't want the responsibility of being an adult and a mother (or father). and i'm not going to lie, this makes me so angry, even if it is "none of my business" i'm more understanding of the 13 year olds that do this... but even then...
i do have to ask, when these moms are giving their children up for adoption -- where are the fathers???? i know of plenty of single dads who would gladly step up to the plate to keep their children in their lives. are the dads even given the option of custody? or are they not informed until after the fact?!
i could go forever on this topic. not only bc i'm opinionated as all hell... blame the hormones. ;)
i am however giving the original poster the benefit of the doubt that she's (hopefully) researched all her options, that she's discussed it with the father, and that this is the best option for the child. i hope i never learn that it is otherwise, bc i might have to shake the shit outta her. i mean. yeah.
whew. stopping.
Castus Al (aka Daddy Rose)and Taz, After rereading what you both posted above and on various other posts I just want to add I think your both real men, in the best meaning way and I ain't saying this to kiss ass or score brownie points, FUCK THAT, that ain't my style (and I sure as fuck ain't gay, fuck, I'm not even HAPPY much anymore) Jokes and bs aside, I mean it, beneither the sarcasm and 'worped' sense of humor (my fav) you're both real inside and not only knowledgable on the forum, but well, inside inside, ya know?
I'm proud of you both- as MEN and what we used to call, when it really fucking meant something-Brother, which had nothing to do with 'simple?' birth processes. Much props and keep up with the Good work (like ya could stop in the first place)...D
Well said Bee and I know (unfortunately) that in SOME, rare and well, fucked situations it proably was truly the only option. See, over he years I've known some of 'those' situations, including by pure chance, knowing a woman who also lives very near you, who had to give up her daughter, knowing how tore up it kept her inside, seeing her expression when she saw a child who might have been hers when out places, knowing some of the poor little fuckers who were 'dumped' and knowing how that made THEM feel and NEVER FUCKING get over and can fuck them up for the rest of their lives and they didn't fucking deserve that simply 'cuz some dump cunt wants to fuck! Having dealt with all the various agengies I've had to deal with and the stuff they tell you, how common it's becoming for 'mom's' to abandon their kids and/or for the Dad's to have custody, etc., etc., etc., if you grasp my point (and I trust you DO), well, can ya think it really fucked to want to get a 'meaning ful tattoo'. Yes, I AM OLD SCHOOL and fucking Proud of it, I don't
especially care who likes me or what I say, I just says it likes I sees it and, if someone can show me I was wrong, I'm MAN enough to
admit it and 'make amends'. That don't happen too often as I try to make sure I don't make an ass out of myself too often (ya learn with age-or ya might not make 'old age') The situation sucks, which was why I wasn't going to post about this in the first place, dammit (good post, by the way)...D
Doc, I'm gonna thank you just as soon as I stop fucking crying and rolling on the floor laughing about your "I'm not gay, I'm not even happy much anymore" comment. That was absolutely fucking great (tears)...
And by the way Doc, thanks for distilling down what Taz and I were thinking down into the "What the fuck are you thinking" condensed vers. You rock Doc.
Daddy Rose, well, I am what I am, if ya like it,great, if ya don't, Fuck Off, you're probably an asshole anyways. Again,
much love for being a Real DAD....sometimes sounds like we're a dying 'breed'....Doc
