Need Custom Tatoo in Toronto - any recommendations?

I'm looking for a skilled tatoo artist to enhance/fix/redo a tatoo I got done when I was 19. It's "cute" of below average quality and I'm 30 now and finally looking to really make it be something I'm proud of. I'm a professional woman who is a bit intimidated about walking into the "rough" kind of tatoo shops to start looking around. I'm looking for a tatoo artist that would talk with me and work with me to really create something beautiful. I have no sketches or drawings or even any great ideas, just a quarter-sized starting point and a desire for something beautiful. I live downtown, but would be willing to TTC or drive within the GTA to work with the right artist. I've been to a few shops that basically said "bring me a picture" and I'll do it. That's not what I'm looking for. I'd like to do this soon - but I'm not in an enormous hurry - I don't mind waiting for someone really good. Any leads would really be appreciated. thanks!!!!
