Machines, machines, and what do i buy?

So i am just starting out and looking for a good quality, but affordable machine for doing detailed line work. Black ink illustrations mostly, but versitality is always a plus. I dont have any experience with machine shopping , and the reviews I've found seem to be mostly sales pitches by companies. Any advice? whats great? what blows? whats up? Thanks in advance for any imput -Cecile
