I got published!

Ok, so this has nothing to do with tattoos, but uh, I'm excited so, yeah. I got published! One of my haiku's is in "Ginyu International Haiku Magazine". It's published in Japan, and it's pretty sweet that a non-Japanese, non-professional poet gets chosen to be in the selected haiku gallery. This excites me to the max.

Eeesh! Alright, but it is just a haiku, well actually haikus are harder for me to write than longer poems because you have to distill an usually complex image and idea into a couple of words. Also, alot of people (including me before I took Haiku Roundtable) think that you have to write a haiku with a syllable pattern, usually 5-7-5, because in Japanese they usually adhere to a character pattern. But suprise suprise, characters don't equal syllables (the poem ends up being too long in English), so uh, just go crazy! Almost every professional poet has chucked the convention about syllables along time ago (poets that work in English anyway). It makes haiku alot easier in a sense, and more fun to think about. But of course, they still remain small, zen oriented poems. Alright, so here it is! So, read it slowly, pausing after each line to think for a moment or two. That's basically how you're supposed to read every haiku. hands clasp tightly move quick past pretty girls
