im really interested in getting a shop started but how do you become better than the best. what do i need to do to rise above the compitition, any helpfull hints would be greatly app.

It's simple: Do it legal; Do it clean; Do it safe; and bust your ass everyday.
It's really no secret man. Good Luck.
Do every tattoo with the firm thought that the next one will be just a little better,never do a tattoo that you don't think you can do your best on and never ever be satisfied with your work!

have a clean shop that dosen't have a bunch of dirty unemployed
bumbs hanging out.
it's a shop not a bar.
do everything leagle.
try to attract a wide variety of clients.
go for a classy looking shop.
don't budge on prices.
and a good talented staff of artist.
if you have talent in the shop it will be a sucess on it's own
no gimmicks needed.
are you a professional artist or some douchebag that saw inked and miami ink on TV
And can we see pics of your work if you are an artist?
Its much easier to put your best efforts into it than to spend countless hours upon hours to try to find the imaginary magical secret to make it happen overnite.
