TAz, Are you, or any of you regulars familiar with the Buddy Rich big band? While Buddy has been gone since 1987, his top notch musicians have gone on to some pretty good careers themselves. One of which was legendary tenor sax player Steve Marcus, who was also known as "The Count". Steve Marcus was the longest reigning member of Buddy's band, 12 years, and had become Buddy's right hand man up until Buddy passed away. Anyone who's seen the band would recognize him by his big white afro, which was sort of his claim to fame. About 7 years ago, ex-Journey drummer Steve Smith, who has become probably one of the top 5 drummers currently alive, put together a band celebrating the music that Buddy played, and one of the members of that band was Steve Marcus. I have had the good fortune to accompany this band on two mid-west/east coast tours, one in '04, and one in '05, and was incredibly privileged to spend many hours traveling from city to city getting to know this incredible man. He was a sweetheart in every sense of the word, and was truly a national treasure. Unfortunately, he passed away in his sleep in September of last year at age 66, and ironically a memorial is being held for him today iin NYC. He will be sorely missed by anyone who knew him. I had considered making the trip for this event, but travel is just too costly at this time, so I will pay my tribute to Steve Marcus here on TattooNow, and hopefully some others will either already know who he is, or be interested enough to look into it. Yes ..Dave was a good man...Drowning Pool was (and still is) a damn good band.We did the Jaegermeister Tour with them and il nino and 40 Below Summer...oh and Coal chamber our pal Nadias former band...used to do a lot of touring with and tattooin the bands...not so much anymore

NAW!!!...We just did it for the drugs and groupies!! Just kiddin!!It was a lot of fun...its especially rewarding to see your name in the thanks section inside some of your favorite bands cd covers!...It makes it all worthwhile...the travelin in a four hundred thousand dollar bus all over the states for free,the girls, the free food ,the girls,the free booze flowin like water, the girls...Damn! It was a HARD LIFE!!! LOL! ( Did I mention the girls?)...T

As a troop in the Army I would like to thank all of you that have stopped to take a moment to reflect on my brothers and sisters of present and past who gave their life so that assholes wouldn't ruin ours. Thank you all for your support, it is what gives us the warrior ethos.

Although we don't have Memorial Day holiday here in Canada, All the best to all of you, and all of your families!
