I'm about to move back to Connecticut within the next month or two. I just gave my three week notice (my last day is June 8th) I've been working in an Optometrists office.... It's a catch all job, I do everything from setting appointments, stocking, to glaucoma testing, selling/dispensing/adjusting/fixing eyewear. I work in a rather large retail chain that -cough- has been previously -cough- mentioned here in the last few days. Which makes my position quite a bit different from your usual Optometry experience.
I'm sort of freaking out, as I need to find another job. Now, I did have a point... I know that alot of shops get their grunt work done through apprentices... But do the majority of shops hire on receptionists or other staff?
I"m just wondering if this is an avenue I should explore or not :)
Another stupid question: Front desk/Staffing

Some shops do, and some shops have volunteers who do that job, so it depends on the shop. I'd look around at some of the quality shops in the area that you'll be moving to. You can p/m me if you want, let me know what part of CT you're moving to and I'll let you know if I know of any of the decent ones.
Shot ya an email :) Thanks!!!
